Rooted in Linshu County of Linyi City, Shandong Province, Shuhe walking tractors have grown from a local agricultural machinery brand to a well-known name in the global farm equipment market over decades of development. Affiliated to Shandong Changlin Machinery Group with a history dating back to 1943, the brand’s story of innovation and expansion mirrors the development of China’s agricultural mechanization industry.
The journey of Shuhe walking tractors began in 1987 when the former Linshu County Agricultural Machinery Factory launched its R&D project for walking tractors. In 1991, the Shuhe brand was officially born and put on the market, with the enterprise renamed as Shandong Walking Tractor Manufacturing Factory the same year, marking a crucial step in brand specialization. The year 1996 witnessed a pivotal restructuring, as Shandong Changlin Machinery Group Co., Ltd. was established, propelling Shuhe into a new era of large-scale expansion. Today, the brand has built one of the world’s largest production bases for walking tractors, boasting 13 major series and 68 varieties with an annual production capacity of over 350,000 units. What makes Shuhe stand out is its complete industrial chain from engine manufacturing to finished machine production, with self-developed SH175–SH1125 series diesel engines as the core power. Many of these diesel engine models, such as SH195 and SH1115, were among the first in China to meet Euro I emission standards, aligning its technical indicators with international advanced levels.
Quality and innovation have earned Shuhe a slew of prestigious honors and a leading position in the industry. As early as 1997, it was awarded the Famous Brand of China Machinery Industry. In 2004, the Shuhe trademark became the first China Well-known Trademark in Linyi City, and in 2006, it was recognized as a China Top Brand and National Inspection-free Product. In 2007, it was titled the "Most Competitive Brand" by the Ministry of Commerce of China. For 9 consecutive years, Shuhe ranked first in China in terms of walking tractor production and sales, holding a market share of over 40%, and it also topped the national product quality inspections for 7 straight years. With 36 national patents applied for in total, Shuhe’s independently developed fuel-efficient direct-injection diesel engines lead the domestic market. Its products are highly adaptable to diverse working conditions, including paddy fields, dry land, mountainous and hilly areas, orchards and greenhouses, and the enterprise is an important participant in formulating China’s technical standards for walking tractors, setting a benchmark for the industry.
Shuhe walking tractors have long broken geographical boundaries and stepped onto the global stage, being exported to nearly 60 countries and regions across Asia, Africa, Europe, Latin America and Oceania. Its representative overseas markets cover the Philippines, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Kazakhstan and South Korea in Asia; Spain and Poland in Europe; Australia in Oceania; Nigeria and Kenya in Africa; as well as Brazil and Chile in the Americas. As a highly influential Chinese brand in the international agricultural machinery market, Shuhe has maintained a leading position in China’s walking tractor export sector for years, bringing reliable agricultural equipment to the global agricultural mechanization drive, especially for developing countries.
The core competitiveness of Shuhe walking tractors lies in their outstanding product values and versatile applications. Renowned for compact structure, flexible operation, durability, fuel efficiency and high cost performance, these tractors can be equipped with a wide range of agricultural implements such as rotary tillers, seeders, harvesters and trailers, enabling multi-functional operations including plowing, sowing, transportation and irrigation. They are the mainstay of agricultural mechanization in developing countries and also key products in China’s agricultural machinery subsidy catalogue, making important contributions to improving agricultural production efficiency both at home and abroad. Complementing the tractors, Shuhe’s self-developed diesel engines are a benchmark brand in China’s single-cylinder diesel engine sector. With a product matrix of 6 major series and 22 varieties, an annual production capacity of 400,000 units and cumulative production and sales exceeding 5 million units, these diesel engines feature a single-cylinder, four-stroke, horizontal structure with evaporative or condensing water cooling and direct injection combustion systems. Supporting both hand cranking and electric starting, they boast strong power, low fuel consumption and wide adaptability, meeting China II/Euro I non-road emission standards. Applied in both agriculture (for tractors, irrigation and drainage machinery, grain processing equipment) and industry (for small construction machinery, air compressors, generator sets), Shuhe diesel engines are deeply integrated with Shuhe walking tractors, forming a synergistic development pattern of complete machines and power systems.
In a strategic move to further optimize its overseas layout, Shandong Changlin Machinery Group Co., Ltd. officially authorized Shandong Zhongtai Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd. as the exclusive operator of Shuhe’s overseas export business starting from February 1, 2026. This authorization covers the overseas export of both Shuhe walking tractors and matching diesel engines, including order coordination, customs declaration, overseas channel management and after-sales service collaboration. The adjustment is aimed at optimizing the global supply chain, improving the response efficiency of the international market, strengthening Shuhe’s competitiveness in the global agricultural machinery market, and legally curbing the unauthorized counterfeiting of the Shuhe brand, laying a more solid foundation for the brand’s sustainable development overseas.
Equipped with a full range of supporting agricultural implements such as strawberry ditchers, corn planters, potato harvesters and rice paddy wheels, Shuhe walking tractors continue to meet the diverse needs of agricultural production. With a clear development strategy, strong technical strength and a global market vision, Shuhe is not only a witness to the upgrading of China’s agricultural machinery industry but also a loyal partner for global agricultural development, committed to providing more efficient, reliable and cost-effective agricultural machinery solutions for the world’s farmers.
